Roundcube is free software for Webmail based on IMAP, developed in PHP and JavaScript programming languages. The most important features of Roundcube are its lightweight and modern user interface and extensive use of Ajax technology, which provides a user experience similar to a locally installed application.

The project was initiated in 2005 with an alpha version and since then, with the current available version, Roundcube has achieved a mature state.

Roundcube offers a wide range of features, such as spell-check, multilingual support, sending email attachments, full support for MIME and HTML message formats, and an LDAP address book. Additionally, Roundcube's features can be extended through plugins, including the ability to integrate a calendar and appointment manager. Numerous plugins are available in the 'Plugin Repository'.

For the installation of Roundcube, PHP and a database (e.g., MySQL) are required. While versions prior to 0.1.1 were based on PHP4, from version 0.2, only PHP 5 is supported.
