MAGENTO 2.0

Magento is a software released in version 1.0 on March 31, 2008, as an open-source platform for e-commerce. Magento is produced by the homonymous company (formerly Varien) in collaboration with Zend Frameworks. Magento is used in 1.3% of all websites (updated data: May 2016), making it the most widely used e-commerce software.

Between June 2011 and November 2015, Magento Inc. was a wholly-owned subsidiary of eBay, and it is also part of the X.Commerce Business Unit. On November 2, 2015, the private equity firm Permira announced the acquisition of Magento Inc. The company claims to have 375 employees worldwide.
